Good News for all Mobile Users in India!
Those customers who are fed up with the high calling rates, poor network coverage, slow internet speed have a reason to cheer.
T.R.A.I (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) has introduced a scheme called MNP (Mobile Network Portablty) which enables a customer to change his service povider without changing his number.
MNP is applicable from 20th JAN 2011 onwards.
The amount you need to pay to avail this service is Rs. 19/- only.
How to proceed....
Contact the new moblie service provider to whom you want to port your mobile number
*Obtain a customer acquisition form CAF and porting form.
*read the eligblity and other terms carefully.
*If eligible, obtain "Unique Porting Code" by sending a SMS from the mobile number you want to port to the number (1900) with the text PORT followed by a space and followed by 10 digit number you want to port.
*Fill up the CAF and porting form.
*Submit the duly filled porting form and CAF along with requeste documentary proof to the mobile service proivder.
* obtain a new sim from the service provider.
*Note you can withdraw your porting request within 24 HRS of applying.
Activation of Porting Number.
Your new service provider will intimate you the date and time of porting on your mobile phone.
Replace the old sim with the new sim provided by your new moblie service provider after the specified date and time.
Eligiblity and Other Conditions.
You are allowed to move to another mobile service provider only after 90 days of the date of the activation of your mobile connection or from the date of last porting of your mobile number which ever is applicable.
You are allowed to change mobile service provider within the same service area only.
If you are a postpaid subscriber, please ensure that you have paid all the dues as per your last bill.( You will have to sign a undertaking in the porting form also).
If you are prepaid subscriber, please note that thwe balance amount of talk time,if any , at the time of posting will lapse.

The entire process will take 7 working days (15 Days in case of Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, North East service areas.)
The disruption time shall not exceed 2 HRS. that too during night time.
